Mitsubishi pills Pills containing PMA

There have been several deaths in recent months in the USA caused by fake pills containing a chemical called PMA.

Following deaths at this years Glastonbury festival DIY contacted the British So-called "Drug Tsar" asking for information about these deaths. No answer was provided. DIY also contacted the Drug Action Team co-ordinator for Norfolk who promised to help, again nothing was heard.

The only information we have is from Dancesafe, an unofficial harm reduction group in the USA. This warning was posted on their site in October 2000:

PMA (Para-methoxy-amphetamine, 4-MA), a powerful stimulant that is cheaper and easier to manufacture than ecstasy and far more dangerous, continues to show up among pills being sold as ecstasy. Many of these pills are stamped with a three-diamond Mitsubishi logo. Last week in central Florida, three young people died after ingesting tablets they thought contained ecstasy, but actually contained PMA. In the Spring of this year, three young people died in Chicago after ingesting PMA, and it has been responsible for six deaths in Australia and many more in Europe and England. Please check back soon for more information on PMA.

Pills containing PMA will not show a colour change with the Marquis reagent, the pill testing kit.
