DIY LSD information

LSD - also known as Acid, 'cid, bliss, trips

LSD is a powerful hallucinogenic drug. It comes on a small square of paper or a small pill -”tabs” - or a sugar cube - “bliss” - it affects the way you see things and feel about the world.

As with all drugs, peoples’ experience of acid tends to be very individual and also as with any illegal drug, its impossible to know how strong a trip is until you take it. Also some people experience much stronger effects than others, although no-one seems to know why.

The effects of acid are normally felt about 20 minutes to a couple of hours after taking it although you may not realise you are affected for some time. This is known as “tripping” and can last anywhere from 5 to 24 hours, although around 8 to 12 hours is common.

As the trip starts to come on, you may feel exhilarated or agitated, you might want to dance or laugh a lot or maybe sit in a quiet place and mong. Acid affects perception, familiar objects or people may appear unfamiliar or strange. Things get more intense reaching a peak after two to four hours - sight, hearing, touch, all the senses become sensitive and distorted, the experience may be great fun or can be upsetting.

If you’re tripping in a club, you might experience a great place full of happy dancing people or you might find it frightening, so much depends on your own mindset at the time.

After effects

There are no known physical dangers associated with the use of acid, nor any proof of brain damage and its not addictive, but users might experience “flashbacks” days or even weeks after a trip when elements of the trip happen again, although this is rare.

There are psychological risks of course, depressed or anxious people will probably find that tripping makes things worse and anyone with a history of mental illness may find acid increases their problems.

Acid can make you misunderstand the world around you and this can lead to accidents and injuries, walking through windows or into traffic is not unknown.

LSD is a powerful drug and you should take great care of yourself - not only during but also after taking it - rest and eat properly. You may feel anxious or depressed the next day, but this will pass.

Staying safe on Acid

Do it with someone you know and trust, preferably someone who’s used it before
Make sure you are somewhere you feel safe and secure
Trips last a long time, make sure you’ve got somewhere to go after the club
Don’t even think of driving

If you do have a bad time, remember, its a drug effect, it will pass. Go somewhere quiet, avoid flashing lights and loud music, go chill.

Look after tripping people - reassure them, never try to freak them out or wind them up.

More than any other drug, acid is no toy. It can effect you in ways which last for years, never, ever, abuse it.
